Aggressive Defense for Licensed Healthcare Professionals
At The Law Offices of Sydne French, we are dedicated to the vigorous defense of student and licensed healthcare professionals facing criminal or drunk driving charges. We never back down from a fight. We are passionate about what we do, and it shows. We have earned one of the highest success rates in Wisconsin aggressively defending our clients against the power and resources of the State.
We understand how stressful and overwhelming a criminal or drunk driving arrest can be. We want you to know you are not alone in this. We put our clients' best interests first every time. We want them to feel as though they are our only client, because they deserve the very best. And so do you.
We are a 100% criminal defense firm that specializes in defending healthcare professionals against criminal and drunk driving charges.
Unlike other law firms that focus exclusively on malpractice claims and board disciplinary actions, we represent, counsel and defend healthcare professionals against criminal and drunk driving charges while minimizing the impact a criminal arrest or conviction can have on your professional license.
Our Approach
As a Wisconsin healthcare professional, a criminal or drunk driving arrest or conviction can seriously jeopardize your ability to work in your chosen profession. You may lose your professional license to practice, and your ability to find work as a medical or healthcare professional may be greatly diminished.
From the moment you become our client, we set out to minimize the negative impact your case will have on your career. We work closely with the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing and the relevant professional licensing boards to help our clients keep their professional licenses. And we strive to help candidates keep their positions at hospitals or other healthcare facilities while working toward being licensed.
Right now you may be asking yourself:- Will a criminal or drunk driving conviction prevent me from getting licensed?
- I'm already a registered healthcare professional. How will a criminal conviction affect my license?
- I just got arrested for a criminal charge. Do I have to report this to the licensing board or to my employer?
- Is it best to wait to see if I get a conviction before reporting my drunk driving arrest?
We understand how important these questions are to you, and we recognize that you have worked hard to get where you are in your profession. Our firm is dedicated to helping you preserve your professional license and your livelihood.
If you are a registered and licensed healthcare professional, a graduate healthcare student working toward becoming licensed, or even if you are simply considering becoming a health care practitioner, we urge you to call or email our office today to schedule a free no hassle consultation in our Waukesha office or Milwaukee office. We will discuss how we can help safeguard your career while vigorously defending you against all types of criminal or drunk driving charges, no matter how serious the offense.
Professional Healthcare License Case Victories
Attorney Sydne French has fought and won hundreds of criminal cases of all types. The following cases are just a few examples of the winning results Attorney Sydne French has achieved for her clients with professional healthcare licenses.
Resisting or Obstructing an Officer | Disorderly Conduct
Client had just earned her nursing degree and was waiting to be licensed. Client was stopped by police based on reports of drunk and disorderly conduct by neighbors. Client became belligerent and combative with police, cursing and yelling obscenities, and spitting on officers. Client was arrested after she ran and hid from police in a nearby garage; she was later charged with Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct.
Result: Defense counsel persuaded DA to amend all criminal charges to non-criminal ordinance violations with fines and no jail time. Client became licensed soon thereafter and was subsequently hired by a private medical facility.
Felony Prescription Drug Fraud
Client, a registered nurse, was arrested for several felony counts of obtaining prescriptions (Vicodin) by fraud. Each felony count was supported by a paper trail of evidence, and eyewitness statements that Client filled several Vicodin prescriptions belonging to a relative, over a period of time and without the relative's knowledge.
Result: Defense counsel negotiated a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA)—with the DA and WI Department of Regulation and Licensing—which permitted Client to keep her nursing license. After a period of two years, all felony counts were dismissed with one count amended to a misdemeanor charge.
